Not very stable & mounting system is problematic
Bought two of these for our Surly Long Haul Truckers and used them over a 6-month trip. I have three issues with it:
1. weight
2. stability
3. mounting system

There's not a lot that can be said about the weight - it's just a bit on the heavy side.

On stability:

The kickstand works mostly okay on hard ground, but on anything else there are single-leg solutions that work much better. With wind or uneven/soft surfaces like grass we frequently had to pick our bikes up from the ground after they had fallen over, which did not happen so much to other travellers using single-leg kickstands.

You need three stabilizing points to park a bike securely. If you connect these three points with an imaginary line, they form a triangle. The larger that triangle is, the more stable your bike will be.

This twin leg kickstand forms a very narrow triangle, as it allows only its thin legs and the back wheel to stabilise the bike...

Very Sturdy, excellent for touring
I bought this stand to use with a hybrid bike (Giant CRS 3) for use when touring with panniers. It is easy to fit and is unobtrusive when folded away. I had to take a hacksaw to mine to get it to the right size and there was some trial andn error to get the right fit, I settled on the 240mm fitting for my bike (Frame size is L). There are markings on the stand to ensure the length is the same for both sides. It is light and feels very solid. Recommeded to anyone who wants a stand!

Best way to carry 2 bikes if you have a tow bar
Brilliant design - clamps quickly and firmly on to your tow bar with no other contact with the car. Folds away when not in use. Just big enough for two bikes but you may need to experiment with different bike positions to get the best fit. The biggest niggle is the straps are TOO SHORT. Most times you can just manage to get them fastened but it's a struggle. However you can always use some bungees. You will probably need a trailer board as it likely that the bikes will obscure your lights/number plate.

Good Product, easy to use
We've used bike carriers that fix onto a hatchback in the past and found them very cumbersome. This one fits securely onto the towbar in seconds and holds two bikes securely. I agree with the other comments, it needs a bit more webbing or a bungee to hold the bike wheels steady, but otherwise it's perfect, no damage to either bike or car.

How to lock the Barracuda to your roof bars
There are loads of great reviews on this product so I don't need to write another. A common theme however, throughout is the fact that most customers don't know how to LOCK the carrier to the roof bars.

Here's how...

Once the carrier is fitted to the roof bars and before you secure your bike to it simply push the locking arm all the way to the front of the carrier. Then make sure the levers either side of where the front wheel sits are fully pushed home. When you return the locking arm to the the rear it 'LOCKS' the lever in place preventing them from being undone. Simply put by pushing the arm all the way forwards then returning it you can lock the carrier to the roof bars whether you have a bike fitted or not, so you can leave your carrier fitted to the bars without fear of theft.

Brilliant engineering, cryptic instructions
Item arrived quickly, securely packed and complete with tools. Instructions relied on drawings which needed very careful examination to determine what they meant. Assembled easily using enclosed tools. Main problem was finding the adjustment to fit the lower arms exactly on the boot lid. It is there in the instructions but difficult to understand that the lower arms need to be screwed in or out.

Once fitted, it is easy to put on and off and folds nearly flat for wall storage. Bikes go on securely and do not obstruct plates or lights (Honda Jazz).

Good for the price - the two bolts that hold the middle section together aren't much good, I used two better ones of my own. Otherwise a decent bike carrier, pretty easy to assemble & fits onto Thule roof bars easily. Instructions are a bit vague, but you can't go far wrong once you get the bits in the right order.

Excellent design beam rack
I bought this rack from Spiral Cycles because they had been so helpful. It actually comes in 2 versions: bolt-on & quick-release. I wanted the quick-release style and was not disappointed. It is fixed to my Carrera Ladies' Vulcan. I have my seat quite low, but the bracket was no problem.

Good looking, sturdy & light, this beam rack takes my Trixes rack bag with foldout panniers without any problem. I use the rack for commuting and it easily detaches with the quick-release mechanism when I want to take it out for a mere ride. Having said this, it's so good looking & neat in its design that I might well leave it on!!

Works great
Have been using this rack for about a month and I love it. Easy to install and remove if needed and carries 25 lbs without a problem. I mounted an Avenir triple pannier to it and I carry my clothes, lunch, computer, tools, lock, water, etc. to the gym and work every morning. If I want to take a ride on the week end I can remove the rack and pannier all in one with just one quick release. The only thing I have done is to cut the quick release bolt down by 1/2 inch because it was digging into my leg. A good product at a good price.
