I had a bike rack that fitted onto the back of the car, high level so it did not need a number plate. But found it fiddly to fit and if your shoulders are not to good difficult to lift the bikes onto. Had a tow bar fitted and purchased this as you can buy different fittings to carry different items. Once you have found a way that works when fitting the Easy Base, for you it is much easier and more secure. I added the bike rack and lock to my order. While the Easy Base has some weight I found it much easier than the old one. I have the tow bar grip set so it slots onto the ball and then hand tighten the clamp, thus holds the Easy Base while you do the final tightening of the clamp. Word of warning if you put it on too loose the Easy Base will swing on the clamp and could drop down far enough to hit you. Purchased to put on a tow bar of a campervan. A good quality, sturdy piece of kit. It fits on the tow bar securely in seconds and two full-size moutain bikes fit fine on the rack.
