good visibility but too slippery underfoot
I have used Pedalites for 3 years. My first pair lasted 18 months, the second are still going (but are starting to fail). I use my bike daily to commute to work in London.

Pros:
- Really good all-round visibility. They really do work.
- No batteries to replace

Cons:
- white lights at front and red at the back mean you are tempted to look at your feet to make sure you've got them the right way round, when you should really have your eyes on the road.
- they're REALLY slippery when wet (and not particularly secure underfoot even when dry). I have the scars to remind me.
- they only last around 18 months before the lights fail (you could make them last longer by putting your old pedals back on for the summer and saving the Pedalites for the winter)

Conclusion: good for the safety-conscious but not if you like to stand up on your pedals. I would have given four stars if they weren't so slippery.

A good idea, but poorly manufactured
I bought a pair of these for extra visibility when I was carrying my young son in a rear mounted child seat.

They worked without incident, until one dark night, I felt the sensation of one of them loosening. I had to dismount and walk him back a couple of miles to our home, which was highly inconvenient and not at all easy.

On inspection, I noticed the thread was worn. I contacted Pedalite, whose director promised me a replacement. I never heard from him again, or received the replacement.

I managed to re-fit the pedal, but recently, it failed again, this time due to worn teeth on the cheap plastic cogs used inside.

A good idea, spoiled by cheap materials, even though they're not cheap to buy.
