Flawed Gem
I admit I am a bit weird when it comes to backpacks. I demand a lot from them and I want them to do what they're supposed to do really well. They need to look good, offer convenience of use, comfort, shouldn't overheat your back and they should always pleasantly surprise you with how much kit you can cram into them.

I was replacing a Knox Sixpack (a very average bag, with terrible zips and an abomination of a helmet carrier) with the Apex.
Normal use for me is motorcycling, cycling, snowboarding, the odd bit of top-up grocery shopping and some air travel. I regularly carry a a 15" widescreen laptop to work and sometimes an SLR camera too.

The Apex looks good. Great even. I liked it straight away and wanted it to meet my expectations, but it didn't:

Its small. Dakine claim a 26 litre capacity, but my old Knox Sixpack (which claims 25 litres) carries *much* more than I could stuff into the Apex. The Apex's compartments seem to be inside the main...
